Alec Baldwin will join the cast of the new film about the Joker, one of the great villains from the Batman stories, to play Thomas Wayne, the father of the famous superhero, informed Deadline.
Baldwin will join a remarkable cast led by Joaquin Phoenix, who will be responsible for giving life to the Joker, and in which Robert De Niro, Marc Maron and Zazie Beetz also stand out.
This project will focus on the origins of the famous villain who, in other films, was played by actors like Jack Nicholson, Jared Leto or Heath Ledger, who won the Oscar for best actor posthumously for his work in “The Dark Knight” (2008 ).
The murder of Thomas Wayne, the role awarded to Baldwin in this new film, and his wife Martha Wayne is the turning point in which Bruce Wayne, still a child, decides to become Batman to protect the city of Gotham.
The film will be directed by Todd Phillips, author of the comedy trilogy composed of “The Hangover” (2009), “The Hangover Part II” (2011) and “The Hangover Part III” (2013).
The story will unfold in Gotham during the eighties and bet on a more dramatic tone than the usual films based on comics.
