During a recent interview, the actress used a term that was classified as offensive and racist, for which she is receiving heavy criticism.

Elizabeth Olsen is enjoying the fame that she has amassed from starring in the recent popular Disney + series. However, the actress who plays Wanda on WandaVision is now being condemned on social media for an alleged racist comment. Cancel Culture is looking to bring down the Marvel actress.

The actress gave an extensive interview for Vanity Fair magazine’s Still Watching podcast. In this she spoke of one of the recent episodes of the series, where her character disguises as the comic version of Scarlet Witch.

Referring to that episode, Elizabeth Olsen said, “I was so excited! We have a Halloween episode and they were trying to figure out how big of a nod to the character we were going to do and it did start off with the classic Scarlet Witch costume. It was kind of like a gypsy thing that has to wear a headband and I, like, fought for it. I was like ‘No, we have to go full into it… this is like the greatest thing, if Paul (Bettany) is doing it, I’m doing it.'”

It was precisely the use of the word “Gypsy,” that caused all the ruckus. The word has now come to be considered a racial slur with a pejorative meaning, conveying illegality or abnormality. It is considered an offensive term, which refers to the Romani people.

Because of this, in some countries, the use of this word is controversial, and there are people who are trying to cancel Elizabeth Olsen for using it.

According to social media users, Elizabeth Olsen had been told, in 2015, it was an insult and were wondering why she was still using the word while doing press for WandaVision, calling her “a nasty racist”

Apparently, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner we’re also under fire for “chanting” the phrase.
