After negotiating with other countries and insurance companies, Shao Kahn, Emperor of Outworld has managed to acquire COVID-19 vaccines, which will be distributed to fighters months before the tournament. This precautionary measure, is in accordance with health and safety regulations to assure fighters will not get infected.
Although the Warrior-King is known to incorporate evil in many ways, his divine wisdom and strength, have been put to the test during these tough times, therefore, he has been hard at work formulating a plan, preventing Outworld’s economy from collapsing.
In an interview with The Mother of All Nerds portal, Shao Kahn commented: “My efforts to minimize extreme brutalities and personal executions are part of the ongoing changes I’ve had to make to flatten the death curve.”
Other fighters such as Scorpion expressed their concerns as well: “I’m happy that fighters are considered a priority in the tournament. Getting vaccinated has been something I’ve been worried about since the onset of this disease, can’t wait to get it OVER HERE.”
While many details and concerns about this pandemic have affected the tournament’s schedule, Shang Tsung, who has the power to consume souls said: “I have been holding back on my soul eating lately. I’m afraid of catching the virus through an inffected soul, don’t know if thats possible but, I’m not going to risk my life in that manner. Now that I know fighters will be vaccinated before the tournament, I will confidently make their souls mine.”
After being canceled for many months, the Mortal Kombat tournament is scheduled to resume late March 2021. Fans have been following their favorite fighters, as most of them have been advising on what type of masks to use and protocols to follow. Staying healthy and safe has been the tournament’s motto during this pandemic, and we have Shao Kahn to thank for that.
