Henry Cavill no longer wants to be part of the project and, will be replaced soon after he leaves.
2020 is not finished with us yet, and it was not easy at all for ‘The Witcher’, the Netflix series, due to the innumerable inconveniences they have had this year throughout filming, no one would have imagined that the conclusion was going to bring about an unforeseen devastating outcome, neither for the fans nor for the production of the platform itself: Henry Cavill is leaving the series.
This year, the journey, from the adaptation of one of the most famous video games began in March, yet they had to stop filming due to Kristofer Hivju’s positive Coronavirus case, then the health crisis spread throughout the world and forced to suspend all attempts to continue until mid-August. When it seemed they were back to normal, a strict quarantine was imposed in England, which prevented them from filming in some locations.
Despite that, they returned to the set to continue filming, but new cases of Covid-19 once again arose and they forfeited shootings once more. When they were safe and resume, Cavill had an accident, and suffered an injury to his leg while jumping with his character’s armor. Although it was reported to be something minor and that the injury would only set them back for a short time, that might have been the last straw.
According to information from CNN, Henry Cavill is leaving the series ‘The Witcher’. The reasons, for the moment, are unknown, but all paths point to there being an excess, on the productions part, of wasted time. They assume that the actor will provide an official statement on his Instagram account to clarify the situation. This means that the second season will be delayed again, presumably to 2022.
In addition to the information provided by CNN, the Variety site announced that Netflix already has an actor appointed to fill the role of ‘Geralt’ in ‘The Witcher’. Matt Bomer, a 43-year-old Golden Globe winner, recognized for his work in film, theater, and television, who stood out in the series ‘White Collar’. Time will tell if he will win fans over like Cavill did, but at least the physical resemblance is extraordinary.
Oh, I almost forgot, Happy 28th of December to my Hispanic followers, Dia De Los Inocentes.
