It seems that the fate of Wonder Woman 1984 has finally been set in stone. According to Warner Bros., the new DC heroine film will make its debut in theaters and, on the same day, it will reach the streaming service HBO Max.

The film maintains its current release date of December 25, 2020. With its debut on the streaming platform and in theaters at the same time, Wonder Woman 1984 becomes a historic release.

Director Patty Jenkins expressed on Twitter:

“The time has come. At some point you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give, over everything else. We love our move as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season. Watch it in theaters, where it is made safe to do so (check out the great work theaters have done to make it so!) And available in the safety of your home on HBO Max where it is not. Happy holidays to all of you. We hope you enjoy our film as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Undoubtedly, the feature will be the biggest addition to HBO Max so far and will certainly attract many more subscribers to the service, which was launched in the midst of the pandemic this year.

We can only hope that Marvel makes a similar decision with Black Widow, since, fans have spent a lot of money throughout the years keeping the MCU going, they deserve it.
