The James Bond franchise is currently on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, since the premiere of ‘No Time to die’, the fifth and final installment of Daniel Craig in the role of agent 007 and one of the largest, was delayed. Several doubts about who will be his successor have emerged and many names have arisen as candidates, but recently in an interview it was revealed that Charlie Hunnam would like to be James Bond and would be willing to accept the role.
Actor Daniel Craig has been commissioned to play Agent 007 for four films and has been relatively well-received by audiences and critics, largely because of the much more realistic style that was given to this remake and fifth installment. It will be the last time we will see the actor in this role, therefore, many rumors have transpired about the possible successor, ranging from Tom Hardy, Richard Madden, to Idris Elba, but none have been confirmed so far.
During an interview for People magazine promoting the film ‘Jungleland’, it was announced that Charlie Hunnam would like to be James Bond, but unfortunately, they have not contacted him to offer him the role or attend a casting:
“I would be so flattered and honored to be considered to play James Bond as an Englishman. But my intuition tells me that I shouldn’t be waiting for that phone call to come. I think there are many people ahead of me on that list.”
Although it has been rumored that the successor will be Tom Hardy and the premiere of ‘No Time to Die’ is only expected to make it official, we will have to wait until this film hits theaters on April 2, 2021 to meet the new agent 007.
