It is well known to many fans that the ‘Star Trek’ saga has given many actors their starting role, but not regularly have they recruited famous actors into its franchise, but this could change, according to new reports, it has been revealed Will Smith could join an upcoming ‘Star Trek’ movie.
The numerous ‘Star Trek’ movie and TV series projects generally focus on lesser-known actors who grow into their roles over the years. That said, this is not to say that some Hollywood greats have not participated in the franchise, just that it is not very common.
Early in their careers, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Tom Hardy appeared on the small screen in ‘Voyager’ and the feature film Nemesis, respectively, while Eric Bana and Idris Elba played the villains in the new trilogy, but their faces were covered by their character prostheses.
‘Star Trek’ has never depended on high end stars to gain lifelong fans. But with the future of the franchise shrouded in doubts and uncertainties, according to new reports from several specialized media outlets, it has been revealed that Will Smith could join one of the numerous ‘Star Trek’ projects.
According to the reports, Paramount is eager to recruit Wiil Smith to play a Starfleet captain. Although, at this point, it is not yet clear exactly which movie this could happen in, but definitely, if Smith is tied into a future project, he could bring a new spin that the franchise is sorely missing.
