In episode 245 of Dragon Ball Z, broadcasted on November 9, 1994 on Fuji TV in Japan, Son Goku pushed his limits and reached the Super Saiyan 3 form during his duel against Majin Boo. A form in which his hair stretched to his waist, his eyebrows disappeared, which sadly Vegeta had never attained. But today, 26 years after Goku, this wrong has been mended. Vegeta finally turned into Super Saiyan 3 in the last episode of Super Dragon Ball Heroes, to face Xeno.

Meticulous fans can argue that this form had already been reached by Vegeta in some Dragon Ball video games, but this is the first time that it is officially seen in the anime. And for the record, the main reason why Vegeta had never transformed into Super Saiyan 3 is due to financial reasons.

Akira Toriyama had explained in 2017 that drawing and animating the characters’ hair in this form took far too long and therefore cost too much money. The choice was therefore made to scrap Vegeta’s transformation, until today.
