Baby Yoda Will now have serious competition now that Baby Jar Jar is here. Jar Jar Binks received the brunt of the prequel hate over 20 years ago, fans loved to hate him.
While the adult Jar Jar Binks was quite annoying (for most people) on the big screen, Baby Jar Jar is adorable. Star Wars fan Leonardo Viti is the artist behind the work, who also made Baby Jabba the Hutt a few months back. Even the most jaded fanatic will find Baby Jar Jar to be quite cute, and some will even think he has what it takes to take the crown from the Boy, aka The Mandalorian’s Baby Yoda.
George Lucas was looking for Jar Jar Binks to add some humor to the prequels. While his intentions were in the right place, the execution wasn’t exactly what Star Wars fans hoped to see after all this time. That being said, there were still more than a few people who were supporters of Jar Jar, although it was more than likely that they were children at the time. Lucas always wanted kids to be able to enter the franchise, so Jar Jar definitely fits that mold.
As for Baby Yoda, it seems like a safe wager. The Mandalorian was basically made to introduced to the world a character they didn’t know they needed. Obviously, he is not really Yoda, but we don’t know much about the species, so the name remains for now. Maybe Season 2, due out this fall, will give us more information, including a name for the little green guy.
