Daniel Radcliffe was kidding around during an interview and it earned him sympathy points with fans. This Harry Potter actor, discovered that after joking about the role of Wolverine in the next Marvel films, some fans were ready to see him put on the claws.

Rumors about the star being named to play Wolverine in the MCU have been spreading for a few months. He even commented on this on occasion, using good humor, but it seems that some fans took it too seriously.

Although nothing truly disastrous was born out of the incident, it certainly served to show how Radcliffe would be a divisive choice to embody the famous X-Men.

In February last year, Daniel Radcliffe participated in a segment from Wired where he answered questions asked by people on Google. One of the main questions was whether the actor would actually play the new Wolverine.

“There’s going to be a new Wolverine movie, in which it starts off with Hugh Jackman being put into a hot wash.” Radcliffe kidded. “And then when he comes out, it’s me. So yes, I’m very happy to announce that here.”

Obviously, this was just a self-deprecating joke, but it ended up adding to the rumors even more, much to Radcliffe’s surprise. In another interview for his new film, Guns Akimbo, with ET Canada, a question was asked on the premise that he “refused” the role of Wolverine.

Radcliffe interrupted the question to clear up the confusion: “I never refused the role of Wolverine. They never officially offered me anything for me to refuse. ”

He explained that it had been a joke and that “the internet picked it up and interpreted it as it wanted”.

Daniel Radcliffe is just 5 feet 4 inches tall, about the same height as his Harry Potter cast mate Emma Watson. That’s what motivated his first joke about being a “shrunken version” of Hugh Jackman.

Still, many fans are not bothered by the height. In fact, it would be a good thing for Radcliffe, since in the Marvel comics, unlike Jackman, Wolverine is an extremely short man – he would just need more muscle.
