Deadpool was a success for the Fox cinematic company, even though they were not entirely behind the project until the first images were released and the response received from fans was positive. Five years have passed from since then. Now the big question is what will happen to Wade Wilson now that Disney bought Fox. If we consider what Ryan Reynolds has posted recently, Deadpool will return during Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reynolds’ post on his Instagram account shows a crime board, if you will, which tries to track the source of the leaked footage. Was it Deadpool director Tim Miller or writer Rhett Reese? Perhaps it was Wolverine’s actor, Hugh Jackman, who finished Logan after Deadpool showed that a superhero with an R rating could be a success. Or maybe Reynold’s wife, Blake Lively, was to blame. The most intriguing name on the board is Taika Waititi, the director of Thor. Further. There is a clear reference that the actor makes to Phase 5 of the MCU in the title. This seems to imply that Deadpool will finally be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Investigation heading into year 5. Or as I call it, ‘Phase 5.’ The point is, I love conspiracy-yarn. #LeakAversary

A few weeks ago, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, announced the projects that will be in Phase 4 of the MCU. However, he revealed that Phase 5 is going to include the Fantastic Four, Blade, among others. So, taking this into account and Reynolds publication, Deadpool could be among those films – or series – that make up the fifth phase. The real question is, will it be a third Wade Wilson stand-alone film, a reboot or maybe it appears in some collaboration with Spider-Man or maybe the X-Men, if Marvel decides to include the mutants.

For now, Fox is awaiting the premiere of New Mutants. The film was filmed in 2017 and has been postponing its premiere for more than two years. It is scheduled to reach the big screen in April 2020.
