Boromir was unmistakably valorous and headstrong, and was held in exceptional regard by his comrades. He had a different perspective from that of his dad, Denethor and his sibling Faramir. However, he loved them both greatly.  Boromir disrelished the idea of destroying the One Ring. He believed that it could be used to bring about the destruction of Sauron once and for all. He honestly believed  the ring could be used to save Gondor, and return it to its former exaltation; he persuaded Frodo to give him the Ring.

Why should we not think that the Great Ring has come into our hands to serve us in the very hour of need? Wielding it the Free Lords of the Free may surely defeat the Enemy.

But what if Boromir had a revolutionary idea? The idea of catapulting the ring into Mordor. What follows is the result of this plan.
