The collector Randy Lawrence addressed the community of comic book lovers, through a message circulating on the Web, hoping to recover almost 450 magazines about Batman and ‘Detective Comics’ (DC), which recently were stolen from a warehouse in Florida.

Lawrence, quoted by the Sun Sentinel newspaper, argues that the only person who could see the collection, valued at about $ 1.4 million, was a plumber, who started a conversation about comics while arranging a leak in the warehouse on July 2018.

“For me this is a first and on such a high level it’s been devastating,” Lawrence explained in a statement that was posted on social networks. “This collection was my nest egg, and I had worked so hard and done without for so long to put this together that it being taken away from me this way has left me in a very bad way.”

The collector also suggested that the thief had accessed the warehouse through the roof, since the locks were not broken or forced and there was a cable hanging from the roof.

For the time being, local police are reviewing the surveillance camera footage, while Lawrence asks other collectors to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell the stolen comics.
