Yesterday Dave Bautista’s anger was expressed during an interview concerning the decision to fire James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and now Dave Bautista threatens to leave Marvel and all their films if they do not use the script that was already written by the director.
Bautista was interviewed by ShortList on Monday and said that he had first spoken with Chris Pratt the day after James Gunn’s dismissal:
“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man… James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”
There is a script that already exists made by James Gunn, Dave Bautista says he would only be willing to work under that story.
“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”
But Bautista knows that Disney’s decision to fire James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is not going to change. “I don’t think [it] will get him re-hired,” Bautista said. “But I hope it opens people’s eyes to James’ character.”
I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel https://t.co/Ym4FwruVDu

We’ll see what kind of drama continues to unfold from this. Hopefully, none of the actors quit and we can continue to enjoy Guardians of The Galaxy as we know and relish.
